Hip-Hop

An open-level class danced in sneakers, or heels for a challenge!

20 Canadian dollars
Studio Five |Commerce Park Drive

Service Description

This urban dance style has its roots in street dancing and follows a strong rhythmic, high energy vibe. It originated in the streets of The Bronx, New York City, in the late ‘70’s. Culturally it represents the freedom to learn, grow, and evolve and is performed “for the people, not the academy”. Hip-hop dance itself intrinsically evolved from hip-hop culture. (Think block parties, graffiti, DJs and MCs, b-boys and b-girls.) The techniques started out as predominantly unique freestyle movements - complex foot work and body isolations performed mainly to hip-hop/rap music, but over time has also evolved to “new style” hip-hop which is more focused on being choreographed versus improvisational.
